It's been a quite busy week! Miss Abigail had her 4 mth check up on Tuesday. The little sweetheart has really been growing! She weighed 14 lbs 1oz. ( In the 95th percentile for weight/ 75th for height- on the Down's curve). She also got several shots...poor little thing! The twins had just started feeling comfortable, as if they understood we were there for the baby, when the doctor asked if they had received their flu shots this year. So of course, lots of tears and crying from exam room 2. Cade has such a time after flu shots. He runs a moderate fever for about 3 days and is just really cranky! Annabelle was not quite herself either! They've been napping for 2 hrs in the morning and afternoon. Much more than normal. Tomorrow should be back to the regular routine.
A few little "moments" this week! One morning James was trying to change Annabelle's diaper before breakfast and she really was rolling over and fighting him. She just started this a couple of days ago. He asked her if she wanted to go sit on the "time out" stair. The little stinker got up and walked herself over the stair and put herself in time out..as if to say, "it's not so bad". She didn't realize that her Daddy is pretty quick on his feet and caught her off guard when he played on her love for her books. He pulled Cade into his lap and gathered lots of her favorite books and started "having the best time" reading them to him. She wasn't very pleased by the look on her face! She quickly decided she wanted to be a part of that. Daddy had a chat with her and rescued her from that dreadful stair! ;)
Cade has learned how to say "ah gail" for the baby just as Annabelle does! So glad he's picking up on words he hears her say!
For some reason he really oves to grab a baby wipe and suck on it. I'm constantly telling him no and taking them from him. This week he was so funny when I saw one in his hand and started to say, "Cade". He quickly snatched it out of his mouth and started wiping his face and hands as if he were simply trying to be clean. I let him walk around the corner with it and stayed back to watch. It went right back into his mouth! I came around from another angle and he quickly went back to wiping his face again. Smart little ones!;) I've snickered when I hear him say "no no" to himself as he continues to get into anything that he knows he's not supposed to. At least he has a conscience..he just hasn't mastered acting on it yet! :)
We went to the park early this morning while it was cool! The babies had fun swinging and running around! Annabelle picked up a ton of the wood chips and set them out them neatly on a ledge.. Her hands were filthy! Everytime she bent down to get more, Cade would pick up her neat stack and put it back on the ground! It was quite comical as it went on for a while! When we got home I told her we needed to trim her nails to get the dirt out. This is not her favorite activity. She fought me until she really stopped to see the dirt. Then she insisted I get every last nail trimmed and clean. Then we washed her hands over and over in the sink. So funny how fast she changed her tune!
I unfortunately gave the twins some chicken nuggets a while back that were pretty hot still. They spit them out and quickly learned the word "hot". If Annabelle sees anything that has steam coming off of it, she immediately starts screeching "hot, hot" very loudly! Tonight we decided that it would be fun for us, Shane, the Twins, and Abigail to go have Mexican for dinner. We don't take the "traveling show" on the road that often, but La Cocina is loud and has live music so it's entertaining for the little ones! We never thought anything of it when they seated us fairly near the kitchen entrance! However, everyone in the restaurant knew when a fresh entree of fajitas was being brought out..since there was this toddler informing the public that it was "HOT HOT"! Over and over again. The poor fellow at a table near us had ordered some and Annabelle felt it her duty to continue to remind him. She's such the mother. The staff laughed at her when the last time we were there she patted Cade on the back when he started coughing!, So they knew her personality already and found this funny tonight too! Ironically, she loves the hot/ or should I say, spicy salsa there! I can't even eat it! She gets her own little bowl and basket of chips. We didn't dare try to take it from her. She just dipped and ate as was as happy as could be! She did request lots of water though! Cade loves the cheese dip! Messy but yummy! (We used to go there every Friday night with friends pre babies- so different :))
Shane had a good week! He's glad to be out for a week now for fall break!
Miss Darby has been busy busy at BAMA! Can't wait to see her again. James had to go to Alabama for a meeting this week and drove an extra hour to Tuscaloosa to see her and take her to dinner. So glad, but I could use a big hug from her! :(
My sister came today to visit the babies! They had fun spinning until they couldn't stand up. I'm sure that can't be good for the brain! So good to see her!
Looking forward to a playgroup with lots of families from the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta tomorrow! Should be lots of fun! Wishing a happy weekend to all!
