Anderson Family

God has blessed us with the wonderful opportunity to have a beautiful, large family! We enjoy the challenges, laughter, love, and growth that come with parenting an amazing daughter in college, an outstanding son in high school, wonderful, although quite busy, boy/girl toddler twins, and a precious little baby girl with Down Syndrome! Life is full of adventure and discovery! We wouldn't have it any other way! We hope you enjoy the "stories" life presents us everyday! This journey is truly a gift!

Fun Friday!

We had a quite busy but fun Friday! I couldn't help but admire what a sharp dresser my teenager is as I looked over at him this morning sporting his white button up shirt, thin black sweater vest, pink bowtie, khaki shorts and his sperry's. Good looking 6'2" young man! I love when I get to take him to school! we enjoy coffee, Buble' or Robin Thicke, and nice conversation!

Mid-morning we started to get ready for Cade's physical therapy session! This was a big day as the session was to take place at a nearby park! His wonderful therapist, Melissa, wanted to see how he would do walking on different textures and levels ( since he's only been walking about 5-6 weeks).

I explained to the twins that it was a "play clothes" day..so I went to the drawers rather than the closet where their hang up dressier clothes are. Miss Annabelle agreed with what I picked out for her, and then as soon as I opened Cade's drawers she grabbed a  red t-shirt and red shorts. I reasoned with her that it was far too much red and he might look and sound like a firetruck if he started squealing while he was walking/stumbling everywhere! She settled for some navy shorts and threw them and the shirt into his crib..as if she expected him to dress himself! He didn't seem to care what we put on him as long as it didn't take too long! :)

He did so great at the park. I know other parents must wonder why its a big deal for a 19mth old to spend time at the park, but with Cade and our "lock down- no public places" policy until this past May, ( due to his compromised lungs- fewer air sacs from 2 hospital stays battling RSV),  then a newborn entering the family in May, it just hasn't been something we have been able to do very much! Of course, it was like we had given an artist colorful paints for the first time, as he could now walk and experience it all far from his stroller or our arms! He was surprisingly independent of Annabelle. In fact, he chose to play far away from her. She made friends with another little blond haired girl named Annabelle as well! He refused help whenever he fell and was so determined to challenge himself taking on every climbing step, uneven area, wood chips, 2 slides! Even if he had to attempt some of it 2 or 3 times! I caught a glimpse of what must've kept him alive and fighting during the pregnancy. It was wonderful to see that deep strength! There was one small episode of, ahem,... Anderson frustration, ...or possibly Paulk/Walker temper over something small.(which is how it is with most of us in our family..the big stuff doesn't rock us, but the little stuff makes us crazy :) ) Look out Annabelle, you only thought you were in charge! :) Lots of praise, smiles, and hugs for Cade from us all! They really enjoyed the picnic there after all his hard work. Awesome afternoon nap too :)

Big Brother Shane took great pleasure in teaching Cade how to make a "Vroom, Vroom" sound for his little cars! He showed him clips of Ferraris and Lamborghinis taking off online. They both were drooling as they watched! Funny how gender comes in to play so soon..Annabelle couldn't care less about it!

Daddy had to work late, in fact he still isn't home, but I thought I would be on my game and feed the twins and then get them bathed early so we could enjoy the evening. It was fun, but I know better than to back those two events up too closely! I didn't have them dried and in their diapers for 2 minutes when, oh my, well, you can imagine. I've never thanked the Lord for his timing more! It must've bothered Cade too because as I was finishing changing Annabelle, he stuck a Publix bag over my shoulder (that he had fetched from the pantry) to seal the dirty diapers in. Funny little fella!

They both "helped me bathe Abigail..the poor baby had so much lotion on her from Annabelle, that I thought she would slide right out of my hands! I think her pajamas are permanently stuck to her! agh! Lots of silliness throughout the evening (and a turn on the timeout step for each of them) and finally off to bed! I read a story and started praying as usual. Annabelle has chimed in her little "Abem" afterwards once before, but Cade usually just watches quietly. Tonight he beat me to the punch and I heard an "Amem" from him in the middle of it. Wonder if he thinks I'm long winded?  I sang, "Jesus loves me" to them...much better than "Do your ears hang low" which is one of their favorites. Afterwards Cade wrapped up my day beautifully when, after I said, "I love you Jesus", he said, "Love oooh Esus" !

Precious Days!
